Objective:This paper systematically analyzed486Compositae herbs whoseproperty were recorded clearly. A database of the Compositae herbs containingtheir genu, property, flavor, channel tropism,toxicity, efficacies,indications and usages was set up. The relationship between properties andfunctions of Compositae herbs was discussed so as to provide a reference forthe theoretical research and clinical medication of Compositae herbs.Methords:The research was made under the guidance of traditional Chinesemedicine theory and with methods of Chinese traditional philology andstatistics. Most materials in the databases were collected from Chinesematerial medica according to the key word of “Compositae†in the index. Therest were collected from some other related reference books, like Resourcesof Traditional Chinese Medicine and so on. A database of the Compositae herbscontaining their genu, property, flavor, channel tropism,toxicity,efficacies, indications and usages was set up. The relationship betweenproperties and functions of the Compositae herbs was discussed.Results:Most Compositae herbs come from Inula flowers, spring Huang Juzu,ji clan, groundsel clan, chicory, sunflower, aster and so on. Most of themare whole herb medicine and safe without toxin. Their properties tend to becold, followed by warm, mild at least. Bitter drugs have the largest numbers, followed by pungent and sweet drugs. The High frequency efficacies includedetoxification, relieving pain, nourishing rash, relieving cough, resolvingphlegm, smoothing wheezing, draining dampness, invigorating bloodcirculation, hemostasis, driving wind, etc. The high frequency indicationsinclude sores, carbuncles, pains, exterior syndromes caused by outsidepathogens, cough and gasp, stranguria, injuries, fractures, bleeding, etc.Conclusion: This paper made a research on compositae herbs, including theirsources, properties, flavor, efficacies, indications, etc. It found out thefunctional trend of compositae drugs and draw many significant clinicalconclusions which provide a basis for the proper selection and use ofcompositae herbs in clinical. |
