Object:To investigate the expression of E-cadherin in primary and metastatic sites of patientswith advanced ovarian cancer and to analyze the relationship between E-cadherinexpression and the clinical pathological feathers(age、tissue differentiations、stage) inovarian carcinoma invasion and metastatic. For further study of E-cadherin mechanism to providea preliminary basis in ovarian cancer. Methods: The collection of the first affiliated hospital of Shihezi University from June2007toJune2013Surgical resection of a total of30cases of advanced ovarian cancer as well as thecorresponding metastases,28cases of benign ovarian tumor(all cases have completely clinicaland pathological material and Confirmed by pathology). All patients had not accepted anyrelated radiation、 chemotherapy and bio-immunotherapy and other related treatment.Immunohistochemical staining was used to determine the expression of E-cadherin on tissuemicroarray slices obtained from ovarian cancer including benign、primary and metastatic sites ofpatients with ovarian cancer. Results: The positivity rates for E-cadherin in primary sites、 metastatic sites、benign ovariantumor were46.6%、20%、82.1%. The expressions of E-cadherin was significantly lower in themetastatic tumor、the primary tumors than in benign ovarian tumor (P<0.001).The expressions ofE-cadherin was significantly lower in the metastatic tumor than in the primary tumors,Theexpression score difference between primary tumor and metastasis showed significance (P<0.05).Conclusion: The abnormal expression of E-cadherin may be associated with the metastasis ofovarian carcinoma and might be potential targets for controlling the invasion and metastasis ofovarian carcinoma. The decreased of E-cadherin expression can be used as indicators of theassessment of ovarian carcinoma invasion, metastasis and prognosis.
