Objective:To investigate resistance gene +299G/A polymorphism with metabolic syndrome (Metabolic syndrome, MS) of Uygur and Han ethnic and the related factors.. Methods:Data from a population-based epidemiology study in Urumqi and Yili district in the period of July 2011 to July 2012.. Subjects were local Uygur and Han resident aged≥ 30 years. According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) MS diagnostic criteria, 153 people were MS (MS group) and another 312 people were control group. All subjects were measured clinical and biochemical indicators of MS using standard methods; resistin gene +299G/A polymorphism polymerase detecting ligase detection reaction (PCR-LDR) method-chain reaction. Results:①Survey population overall prevalence of MS 32.90%, 29.71% prevalence of Uygur;Han prevalence was 34.83 percent; and female prevalence (35.84%) than men (28.49%). ②Related indicators between MS compare with Uygur and Han national’s:Waist (WC), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), fasting insulin (FINS) was significantly (P<0.05), no significant difference between the two peoples of other indicators (P>0.05); Uygur MS group and control group:WC, body mass index (BMI), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), systolic blood pressure (SBP), FPG, TC, low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), TG and high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), and the MS group with the exception of Uighur HDL-C is lower than the corresponding control group of Uighur None, other indicators within Uighur groups significant difference (P>0.05); Han MS group and control group:WC, BMI, DBP, SBP, FPG, TC, TG and HDL-C difference was statistically significant (P<0.05), and HDL-C values in Han MS group is lower than the control group of corresponding values, no significant difference among other indicators within the Han group(P>0.05).③Serum resistin (RES) levels between Uygur and Han, MS group and control group were not statistically significant (P>0.05), but the correlation analysis found that only fasting insulin (FINS) and insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and serum resistin was a significant positive correlation (P<0.05).④Resistin gene +299G/A allele frequencies:either two inter-ethnic or MS group and control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05); resistin gene+299G/A genotype distribution: Although Uighur AA genotype higher than the Han, MS group AA genotype higher than outside, but whether the two inter-ethnic or MS group and control group, there was no significant difference in the same (P>0.05);⑤Correlation analysis of relevant indicators between two national SNP+299G/A polymorphism genotypes and MS:although AA genotype BMI, TG, TC, SBP, WC, RES higher than AG, GG genotype, HDL-C, FINS, HOMA-IR values below AG, GG genotype, but again no significant correlation (P>0.05). Conclusion:①Serum resistin levels between the MS group and control group had no significant correlation, but there is a significant correlation of serum resistin with FINS and HOMA-IR, resistin may be an independent risk factor for the IR. ②There is no significant correlation of resistin gene SNP+299G/A polymorphism and genotypes with Uygur and Han ethinic and MS and control.③The correlation of resistance with MS remains to be further analyzed.
