Objective: To initial investigate estrogen receptors α 〠β gene polymorphisms and susceptibility of moderate to severe chronic periodontitis patients of Uygur adults in Moyu region in Xinjiang, to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease. Methods: The buccal swabs of 97 subjects with moderate, severe chronic periodontitis, 102 cases with matched healthy control individuals were randomly selected from epidemiological investigation in Moyu region in March and April 2013, the inclusion criteria of patients tabulate as follow: â‘ Uyghur nationality, ranged in age from 18 to 70; â‘¡ the patients should have at least 10 teeth including 4 molars(exclude the third molar)left intraoral to conduct periodontal examination; â‘¢all the individual in patient group have no systemic disease or disease is known to affect periodontal status. the selection criteria of control group: â‘ Uyghur nationality, ranged in age from 18 to 70; â‘¡the patients have no systemic disease and keeping good oral condition, the gums appear to remain healthy with no attachment loss and loosen teeth, the missing teeth should less than 3.the pregnant women were eliminated from participants in both groups. The buccal epithelial cells of ninety-seven Uygur individuals with moderate to severe chronic periodontitis and one hundred and two cases healthy controls were recruited, Genomic DNA was collected, the distribution of estrogen receptors αã€Î² were genotyped by polymerase chain reaction-fragment length polymorphism. Results: No differences were found in genotype distribution of estrogen receptors α Xbaâ… between patients with moderate to severe chronic periodontitis and control subjects(P=0.1809), but there were significant difference of allele frequencies(P=0.0366); Pvuâ…¡ genotype expression and allele frequencies expression(P=0.0215;P=0.0146). There were no differences of estrogen receptors β Rsaâ… genotype and allele frequencies(P=0.1809;P=0.0949), there were no differences of Aluâ… genotype expression(P=0.0594), but there were differences of allele frequencies(P=0.0483). One-way ANOVA analysis manifest that Aa genotype maybe the protective factor in this region(P=0.027). Female chronic periodontitis and healthy controls only show significant differences in estrogen receptors α Pvu â…¡ allele frequencies(P=0.0229), while no difference were found in estrogen receptorsαã€Î² of male. Conclusion: The susceptibility of moderate to severe chronic periodontitis patients of Uygur adults in Moyu region in Xinjiang is related to estrogen receptors αã€Î² genotype distribution, the pp genotype in estrogen receptors α Pvuâ…¡ might be the susceptibility factors in the chronic periodontitis patients of Uygur adults. |
