Objective: To observe serum irisin levels in patients with obesity and type 2 diabetic mellitus(T2DM), and discuss the correlation between serum irisin level and blood glucose and lipid levels. Methods: A total of 88 research objects, including 22 physical examinees with normal weigh(NGT), 22 obese physical examinees with normal glucose tolerance(NGT).22normal-weight patients with T2 DM, 22 obese patients with T2 DM, were selected and divided respectively into 4 groups, namely A, B, C and D. For each group, physical examinations were conducted, and the levels of blood glucose and lipid, as well as serum irisin were measured. Group comparison, correlation analysis and linear regression analysis were performed basing on the measurements. Results: Adiponectin and irisin levels of T2 DM groups were significantly lower than that of NGT groups(P<0.05). Adiponectin level of group A was significantly higher than that of group C and D, and irisin levels of group A and B were significantly higher than that of group C and D(P<0.05). Serum irisin level was negatively correlated with TG,fasting blood glucose and glycosylation, and it was positively correlated with HDL(P<0.05). Adiponectin level was negatively correlated with fasting blood glucose and glycosylation, and it was positively correlated with HDL(P<0.05). The linear regression analysis indicated that the influence of FPG on serum irisin level was extremely significant(P<0.01).Conclusion: Serum irisin level of the patients with T2 DM, which was affected by blood glucose level, was lower than that of people with NGT. The mechanism might be associated with insulin resistance.
