| Objective:To detect the expression of insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor (IGF-1R) gene in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST). Methods: Immunohistochemical En Vision technique was used to assess the expression of IGF-1R in GIST, The patients were followed up. Results:In 162 cases of GIST:Male 91 cases, female 71 cases, Male:female=1.28:1. The age ranged from 24 to 83 years old, median age 56 years old, the peakage of onset was 56~59 years old.The tumors located in esophagus in 2 cases, stomach in 89 cases,47 cases in small intestine, rectum in 5 cases and 19 cases of extragastrointestinal.The stomach are the most common location, accounted for 54.9%, followed by the small intestine (29.0%). Spindle cell type in 135 cases (83.3%), epithelioid cell type in 11 cases (6.8%) and 16 cases of mixed cell type (9.9%). Very low risk group had 35 cases, low risk group 30 cases, moderate risk group 35 cases and 62 cases of high risk group. The positive expression of IGF-1R protein in 142 cases, the positive expression rate was 87.7%.The positive expression rate was the highest in the rectum (4/5,80%), follow-ed by the small intestine (37/47,78.7%). The expression of IGF-1R protein in different gender,age,location, histological type, risk classification were not statistically significant (P>0.05).81 patients were followed up,the follow-up rate was 50%.42 cases of 43 cases of high risk patients with IGF-1R positive expression,10 cases of them were strongly positive (+++), the 10 cases were recurrence.28 cases showed moderately positive expression (++), including of 17 cases,4 cases were weakly positive (+),including 1 cases of recurrence.The of recurrence disease free survival negative expression of IGF-1R and weak positive expression group were 55~61 months.Whereas the disease free survival of the moderate and strong positive expression groupd were 31~38 months.Disease free survival was statistically significant differences between the two groups of patients during the period (P<0.05). Patients IGF-1R high expression with had significantly shorter disease-free survival period.. Conclusion:The GIST cases commonly express IGF-1R,The protein expression is one of the important factors affecting the prognosis of patients. |
