Relationship Between Atherosclerosis,Central Arterial Pressure And Intima-media Thickness In Patients With Essential Hypertension

Objective:To investigate the relationship between brachial ankle pulse wave velocity, intima-media thickness and central arterial pressure in patients with essential hypertension.Methods:we retrospectively analyzed these objects including of four hundred and forty-four cases of essential hypertensive patients treated at The First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University from January 2010 to March 2014, with the average age of (56.63±8.86) years. The clinical data of patients were determined, including intima-media thickness (IMT), brachial ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) and central arterial pressure (CAP). The patients were subdivided into 2 groups based on baPWV results:236 patients in normal group (baPWV<14m/s), and 208 patients in abnormal group (baPWV>14m/s). The relationship between brachial ankle pulse wave velocity, intima-media thickness and central arterial pressure was evaluated with Pearson correlation analysis. And the relationship between brachial ankle pulse wave velocity, intima-media thickness and central arterial pressure was examined with Logistic regression analysis.Results:Age,24hSBP, dSBP, nSBP, CASP, CADP, CAPP, AP, AIx, AIx75 and IMT of patients in abnormal group were statistically higher than patients in normal group (P<0.05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that baPWV was related with age,24hSBP, dSBP, nSBP, CASP, CADP, CAPP, AP, AIx, AIx75 and IMT (r were 0.385,0.384,0.373, 0.279,0.609,0.364,0.569,0.394,0.138,0274,0.513, P<0.05). Further adjustment for age, 24hSBP, dSBP and nSBP, the data of CASP, CADP, CAPP, AP, AIx75, IMT were still associated with baPWV. Binary Logistic regression analysis showed that CASP, CAPP and IMT were related with baPWV (OR were 1.065,1.099,29.46, P<0.05).Conclusion:CASP, CAPP and IMT were the main risk factors of patients with essential hypertension baPWV.
