| OBJECTIVE:To investigate the incidence of migraine patients with dizziness; explore the clinical characteristics of migraine headache dizziness observe effects of preventive medications on dizziness in patients with migraine headache.METHODS:Migraine sufferers were selected in the Neurology Clinic of Shandong Provincial Hospital from November,2013 to October,2014. the statistics of different ages, different gender, the incidence of migraine patients with dizziness and whether there is cause each attack. According to the severity of headache, migraineurs were divided into mild, moderate and severe subgroups. At the same time, all cases were divided into migraine with aura and without subgroups depending on the types of migraine. The incidence of dizziness in these patients were studied. Migraine patients,who fullfilled the conditions for preventive treatment, were given flunarizine, propranolol, valproate, venlafaxine as preventive treatment for vertigo, the frequency of dizziness, dizziness duration, severity of vertigo and medication compliance were observed before and after treatment.RESULTS:①In this study,238 patients were selectd, of which 85 patients had symptoms of dizziness, the incidence of dizziness in migraine patients was 35.7%, the incidence of dizziness was 35.9% in men with migraine headache,35.6% in women, no statistically significant difference was found between male and female (P>0.05); ③ A migraine headache and migraine associated dizziness often could be triggered by certain factors, this research showed that fatigue was one of the most common cause (21.2%), followed by sleep disorders (15.3%), mood swings (12.9%), the weather changes (8.2%), menstrual period (5.9%), but some patients (36.5%) without indeed cause;③Dizziness incidence was 28.8% in migraineurs with aura and 37.6% in migraineurs without aura dizziness, no statistical difference was found about the incidence of dizziness between migraine patients with and without aura (P>0.05) Patients with mild, moderate, severe headache, dizziness rates were 34.3%,37.1% and 38.5% respectively, no statistical difference was found about the incidence of dizziness among these three subgroups (P>0.05);④According to the category of dizziness, the proportion of former state dizziness, syncope, balance disorders were 61.2%,10.6%,28.2% rspectively in these 85 cases; ⑤Preventive medicine could improve the onset of dizziness frequency, time, strength and vertigo disorder survey rating scale.CONCLUSIONS:The incidence of dizziness was 35.7% in migraineurs, and the incidence were 35.9% and 35.6% in male and female migraineus respectively. Many attacks of dizziness in migraineurs were triggered by fatigue, sleep disorders, mood disorders. Clinical manifestations of dizziness were vertigo, a former state of syncope and balance disorders. Flunarizine, propranolol, valproate and venlafaxine were effective on dizziness in patients with migraine. |
