With the low-cost medical and health technology concept being raised, scientific research institutions of the medical pay more attention to the area of non-pharmacological treatment research in recent years. Which originated on China acupuncture is one hot technology. It itself has many advantages:a kind of whole and nature therapy, special affects, can dure many diseases that the western medical science feels helpless, no side-affect. However, some accidents may appear, such as:bent needle, broken needle, fainting. And some points are hard to puncture, such as:shenque and ruzhong. Meanwhile metal needles may cause blood infection. Modern acupuncture therapetuic instuments, especially with perfect performance and great functions, which are based on traditional Chinese medicine theory and combine with computers, micro-electronics and other tecnologys, have been widely used clinical as their free-pain, non-invasion, non-bacterium, non-fainting.The new acupuncture therapetuic instument in this paper is based on single chip and associated by the EEG biofeedback theory and pluse-width modulation technology, which is superior to traditional acupuncture and has many excellences like perfect in performance, smart application and convenient. It also covers the shortages of continuous fixed-frequency pulse stimulation which is controlled by some simple electronic circuit can be easily adapted to.This paper researches into the mechanism about several kinds of acupuncture therapetuic instuments sold in market, after the generation and development history, actualities and subsistent problems of acupuncture、EEG biofeedback theory and pluse-width modulation technology are introduced. Combined with micro-electronics technology and EEG biofeedback theory, software and hardware are designed in the end. In sum, various digital format files will be convered to analog signals by D\A convert chip-TLV5616, and then the analog signals could modulate the pulse width. Then the instument output a series of medical pulse, such as:sawtooth wave, continuous wave, intermittent wave, and sleep EEG signals-δ wave and θ wave, and music pulses too. Among them, the sleep EEG signals-δ wave and θ wave were extracted from the acquisition of the EEG brain electrical digital signals. The pulses have following features:irregular pulse frequency; after the operating paremeters being set the pulse width can be modulated; adjustable pulse amplitude.Experiment results show that the medical pulses which were output by this new acupuncture therapetuic instument, can meet the relevant medical tests and security measures. And the whole hardware circuit simple and reliable, low power consumption, high reliability, and alse support USB data transmission, visual alarm and multi-channel output interface. These features are unique among the past apparatus. It has friendly human-machine interface, convenient operation, and a very good value in future.
