BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Percutaneous kyphoplasty(PVP/PKP) has been widely carried out in the world at present,it is a minimally invasive effect of the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture that use the liquid cement injected into the lesions vertebral spine with certain pressure.Which can relieve the pain of the patients obviously and prevent fractures happen again. But the leakage of bone cement is common in PVP/PKP, which can lead to devastating complications, such as paralysis injury of nerve and death by pulmonary embolism. In addition, as the distraction of PVP/PKP is limited, it can recovery the height of vertebral partial. To solve the problems of Percutaneous vertebroplasty existing such as the high risk of bone cement leakage and repair the height of compression fractures vertebra desirably,We have developeda new technique of percutaneous vertebroplasty—“The ZCL No-leakage Vertebroplasty System”. This paper aims to observe the efficacy of Preliminary clinical application of ZCL no-leakage vertebroplasty system.METHODSFrom October 2013 to September 2014,72 cases(89 vertebras) with fresh osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures were separated into two groups by their willingness, patients in group A taken up ZCL no-leakage vertebroplasty and patients in group B accepted percutaneous kyphoplasty. We observe the distribution of cement, the Cobb angle and restoration of vertebral height. The patients’ visual analogue scales(VAS) score and Oswestry disability index(ODI) score were evaluated after operation.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION The operation was successful in 72 patients, All patients were followed up for 6 to 14 months. The vertebral height,Cobb angle,VAS and ODI scores were evidently improved than those of pre-operation(P<0.05).There are no significant differences are found between the two groups in terms of improved VAS and ODI(P>0.05)The group A was significantly better than that of B in terms of improved height of vertebral body, improved kyphosis Cobb angle(P<0.01).Bone cement leakage rates were 0(0/37) in group ZCl and 11.5%(6/52).The results show that, ZCL noleakage vertebroplasty and percutaneous kyphoplasty was effective in the treatment of the fresh osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures, relieve pain and improve quality of life. But ZCL can completely avoid the leakage of bone cement, and in restoration of Cobb angle and anterior vertebral height were markedly better than the PKP correction.
