ObjectiveIn recent years, Baphicacanthis Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix is short of resources, so the study of Baphicacanthus cusia (Nees) Bremek. has important significance on comprehensive utilization and environmental protection. This topic aims at increase the medicinal parts of Baphicacanthus cusia (Nees) Bremek. through the comparative study on the chemical composition and the pharmacological effect of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis.MethodsFirstly, compare the pharmacognosy study of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis. Then application of NIRS and HPLC for chemical composition analysis of the two parts, comparing the HPLC fingerprint of two different parts and content of the effective component. Comparing the pharmacological effects of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis on dry yeast induced fever in rats, mice auricular edema induced by dimethylbenzene and acetic acid induced abdominal capillary permeability in rats.Results1. Pharmacognosy study on the B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis. There were no significant differences between the organizational structure of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis. by method of morphological identification and microscopic identification.2. NIRS with cluster analysis and similarity calculation comparison of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis. This experiment on B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis were compared by combining clustering and similarity comparison using NIRS technique, reflect both the overall chemical composition no significant difference.3. Study on HPLC fingerprint of the extractive from the B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis. The fingerprint of the extraction from the B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis was established by HPLC,9 common peaks were separated on HPLC fingerprint in the B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis.4. Determination of five index components’content in B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis. On the basis of HPLC fingerprint of the extractive from the B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis, the simultaneous determination of five index components in sixty samples was established。And the result showed that the content of the five components in B. Cusiae Cauis is higher than that in B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix.5. Study on antipyretic effects, anti-inflammatioin of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis. The effects of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis on dry yeast induced fever in rats, mice auricular edema induced by dimethylbenzene and acetic acid induced abdominal capillary permeability in rats were obviously. ConclusionB. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis contain the same chemical composition, and through the determination of five index components’found that the content of effective components of stems are higher than that in the root. The content of five index components’ of B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis is decreased with the growth years become long. And B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix and B. Cusiae Cauis both have the pharmacological effect of antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, and the pharmacological effect of B. Cusiae is stronger than B. Cusiae Rhizoma et Radix.
