| ObjectiveGe Hong is a famous traditional physician in Chinese medical history and he is also a Taoist and alchemist. Ge Hong styled Zhi Chuan, from Jurong, Danyang, but most time of his life lived in Ling Nan. Ge Hong’s academic achievements of the Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies finished in Ling Nan.Ge Hong has many works but many of them had lost. Now the book of Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies is the earliest traditional Chinese medicine works in Ling Nan and have a profound influence in medical field. This book has more than seventy items and described the diagnosis and treatment of over one hundred kinds of diseases which belong to clinical emergency and internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics. These diseases are the first record of Ling Nan medicine and lay a foundation for the development of Ling Nan medicine. By this, This paper presents overall and systematic study on the academic experience of diagnosis and treatment of diseases which the book recorded, including five aspects:exogenous febrile (infectious diseases), surgical, gynecological, pediatric, such as internal medicine. Objective to evaluate the academic achievement of the Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies by Comparative Study.MethodsThis paper aims to research the academic experience of diagnosis and treatment of diseases which Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies recorded.. Literature research method, investigation and acquisition method, and theoretical analysis method are adopted in this whole paper.Literature research method:this part included reading the original to protect the essential part by extracting, taking pictures, scanning, photocopy etc. Collect data mainly by use of Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong province, the library of guangzhou university of TCM, China Knowledge Resources Integral Databases etc. Ensure all information I collect can be store in time, which are stored in the form of the document, using Pictures to upload photos at the moment for the form of an image to a form of an excel spreadsheet data files by computer technology. To lay a foundation for next steps of writing must classify and compile the data collected in time.Investigation and acquisition method:this part adopt fieldwork and interview.Visiting the Luofu mountain of Ge Hong’s site and Boluo county hospital of traditional Chinese medicine etc. Interview the local people and some experts of studying on Ge Hong’s works. Then classified and analysis the collection of data. Then protect the essential data to make the paper enrich.Theoretical analysis:this part main by the method of classifying, analyzing, interpreting, contrasting to conclude academic achievement of the Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies and refine his academic point of view according to standards made by "Chinese Journal of Medical History" and "Chinese Journal of Chinese Medical Literature".ResultsAs far as the book of Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies as the earliest traditional Chinese medicine works born in Ling Nan. This book has recorded the diagnosis and treatment of over one hundred kinds of diseases which belong to clinical emergency and internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics. This paper study on these diseases by analyzing and interpreting the academic connotation. The results consist of 4 appendices.The first chapter:this Part introduced Ge Hong’s life story and his book The Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies, including the edition and brief introduction of the book.The second chapter:this part arranged and researched on academic experience of each clinical Department that the book described how to diagnose and treat diseases. Because of the restriction of thesis length and time, I selected some disease which was detailed discussion or frequent and idiopathic disease in Ling Nan from the book to research. The disease I selected consist of typhoid, febrile disease, malaria, dysentery, cholera, Chest Stuffiness and Pains, edema, cough, Jaundice, emesis, ulcer, threatened abortion, Pernicious Vomiting, pregnancy typhoid, etc.The third chapter:this part evaluated the academic achievement of the Handbook of Prescriptions for Emergencies by Comparative Study which included the horizontal comparison with vertical comparison.
