objective: Osteoporosis is a common disease of health threat to middle-aged people, which has high incidence and often be ignored because its occult onset, easily lead to death and disability once fragility fracture, seriously affected the quality of people’s life. The aim of this study is through the epidemiologic investigation of osteoporosis and vitamin D among adult women in Luzhou City to explore the prevalence of osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency and the related risk factors in this area,to analyze the correlation between vitamin D,bone turnover markers and osteoporosis,to discuss the relationship between inflammatory and oxidative stress markers and osteoporosis and to provide the epidemiological evidence for diagnosis and prevention of osteoporosis. Methods: The cross-sectional descriptive study enrolled women aged 30~90 in Luzhou City. The study population sample was collected through random sampling and a total of 375 health adult women who living in the Luzhou area reached 3 years were included. All investigators were divided into coordination group, register group, blood sample group, physical examination group, BMD group and questionnaire investigation group according to the survey purpose, and all investigators attend unified training. All participants were informed consent and signed the informed consent. All participants had a uniform number by the register group investigators, and completed a detailed face to face survey according to unified homemade questionnaire by investigators. The height, weight, blood pressure, balanceability, muscle function and so on were tested by physical examination group investigators.Fasting blood were taken in the early morning from elbow vein for blood routine test, the liver and kidney function test,C reactive protein(CRP), the neutrophil lymphocyte ratio(NLR) was calculated. 25-hydroxyvitamin D(25OHD), bone absorption markers tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b(TRAP-5b), tpye Ⅰcollagen cross-linked c-telopeptide(CTX) and bone formation markers bone alkaline phosphatase(BAP),N-terminal propeptide of typeⅠcollagen(P1NP),N-terminal mid fragment of ostecalcin(N-MID) were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). The bone mineral density(BMD) of the lumbar spine and left femur was assessed by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(LUNAR DPX-NT, USA).All survey data were managemented by Epidata3.0 database and data statistical analysis were performed by Statistical Package for Social Sciences(SPSS) software version 19.0.Results: 1.The prevalence of osteoporosis, osteopenia and normal of women over 30 years old in Luzhou area were 54.7%,28.7% and 16.6%, respectively, and after standardized according to the sixth national census in 2010,the prevalence were 38.7%,35.4% and 25.9%, respectively. The prevalence of vitamin D in severe deficiency, deficiency, insufficiency and sufficiency group were 8.8%,74.8%,15.3% and 1.1%, respectively, and the standardized prevalence were 7.7%,76.3%,14.5% and 1.5%, respectively. 2.The average age of women in osteoporosis group was older than that in the other two groups(P<0.05), and age was negatively correlated with BMD. Along with the increase of age,the prevalence of osteoporosis increased. 3.Osteoporosis inluzhou city was correlated with body weight, outdoor activities, reproductive history, blood alkaline phosphatase, and fracture history, but had no correlation with smoking status, alcohol intake, depression, total bilirubin, serum uric acid, NLR and CRP. The balance ability and grip strength decreased in patients with osteoporosis. 4. TRAP-5b, CTX, BAP in osteoporosis group was higher than that in the other two groups(P<0.05),and all were negatively correlated with BMD. But 25 OHD,N-MID,P1 NP had no significant difference between groups, and no significant correlation with BMD. 5.Aging was the major risk factor for osteoporosis, while overweight and obesity may be the protective factors for osteoporosis. Conclusion: A high prevalence of osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency were observed in women in Luzhou city. The prevalence of osteoporosis increased with aging. Endogenous antioxidants, total bilirubin, serum uric acid and inflammatory markers such as NLR and CRP were irrelevant with female osteoporosis.Bone mineral density was negatively related with bone turnover markers of TRAP-5b, CTX, BAP,while vitamin D status wasn’t relavent with osteoporosis in Luzhou city.
