With China’s rapid development of medical and health services, the government effortsto support the health care industry increased year by year. As a typical representative ofhealth care industry, hospital has aroused more and more concern of the government andthe community. Today, the conflicts between doctors and patients have become one of thehot issues of social concern, the managing service quality has become an important factorin the level of the hospital. As one of the important means of achieving modern hospitalmanagement and service quality, the signage and wayfinding system can convey clearoriented information, all types of service information and hazard warning information to thepatients, the patients can quickly identify their location and guidelines for the travel path. Itcan also help to improve the patients’ mental state, and ultimately to achieve overallhospital service quality standards, and help to improve the modernization of the hospitalmanagement level. With the constant expansion of the hospital, clinics and a variety ofpatients care seeking behaviors had increasingly complex, how to design a suitable hospitalsignage and wayfinding systems has become one of the major problems to be solved for thehospital.Through field research, this paper which fully used the human factors engineering,signage and wayfinding systems, psychology and other related concepts, pointed out thatthe current problems of signage and wayfinding systems for Z hospital, and gave thecorresponding design principles and recommendations from five aspects, color design,height design, process-based content design and personalized in hospital signage andwayfinding systems, and finally in accordance with the above design method to build acomplete signage and wayfinding systems for Z hospital.
