The main purpose of this project is to find a heavy-ion beam radiotherapy doseverification method. After preliminary investigation, select Use EBT2film, may makethe verification process easier, more accurate results. After analyzing the seriescharacteristics of EBT2film to determine the feasibility for dose verification.First,we studied some characteristics of the EBT2film, such as the sensitivitycharacteristics and scan characteristics. Based on these characteristics, a doseverification system which consists of EBT2film and EPSON10000XL flatbedscanner will be setup. And more detailed study how to use of this system. We studiedthe system composition, calibration, operation method of scanning film, and the imagestorage after scanning, analysis of the image, the pixel value extraction, converted toabsolute dose and so on. Through these studies we identified the using methods,processes and operating specifications of the system, laid the foundation forsubsequent research.Second, the use of these systems for the response characteristics of the filmEBT2heavy ion beams made a thorough study, the main research EBT2film energyresponse and dose-response characteristics. Select3different energy heavy ion beamirradiation EBT2film and found that the response curve around exponentialrelationship, with an empirical formula of least squares fit curve, curve parametersfound EBT2film in response to the energy heavy ion beams there was no difference.and absolute dose. Through rigorous calibration the net optical density values andabsolute dose of the film, we obtained EBT2film for heavy ion beam dose responsecharacteristics. Found the absolute net optical density is not a linear relationshipbetween absolute doses, with a cubic polynomial to fit well This relationship. Thefitted curve can easily be converted optical density of the film to absolute dose.Through research we found that the use the dose verification systemcomposed by EBT2film and EPSON10000XL flatbed scanner to be feasible forheavy ion radiotherapy dose verification, and easy operation, accurate results.
