| High blood pressure is a complex trait determined by genetic andenvironmental factors, as well as their interactions. Over the past century, ithas been elucidated the genetic determinants underlying BP response tosodium intake, or BP salt sensitivity. Many mechanisms attributable to saltsensitive hypertension, including Ion transport, renin angiotensinaldosterone system(RAAS), sympathetic nerve system, kidney mechanism, endothelium dysfunction and endocrine system. The genetic research of saltsensitivity has made progress, and it is a recent and future focus. Saltrestriction, potassium supplement and medication can reduce the morbidityof salt sensitive hypertension and ameliorate the prognosis. |
