| Objective:To evaluate the vision correction effect, safety and the morphology of cornea of rigid Gas permeable contact lens(RGP) on high myopia with high corneal astigmatism. Method:forty-three patients(66eyes) with high myopia and high corneal astigmatism (myopia range:-6.00D~23.00D; astigmatism range:-2.25D~-10.25D) were enrolled and fully corrected by two different methods:1)spectacles,2)rigid Gas permeable contact lens. All patients before they accepted the RGP-CL correction need to accept vision acuity, slit lamp, intraocular pressure, refraction, corneal topography, wavefront aberration, corneal endothelial cell density, A/B ultrasound and fundus examination. Compared the differences of the best corrected visual acuity and contrast visual acuity between two different correction methods. After one year RGP-CL correction, patients need to accept intraocular pressure, visual acuity examination of corneal topography, corneal endothelial cell density and the axial length once again. Results:1. RGP-CL corrected visual acuity and contrast Visual acuity are obviously better than the spectacle correction.2. The higher-order aberration of RGP-CL wearing patients was significantly lower than uncorrected state.3. RGP-CL can reduce the patients’ average corneal curvature, steep K value, SRI and SAI, increase the flat K value.4. No significant differences in patients with axial length, intraocular pressure, corneal endothelial cell density after one year RGP-CL correction.5. Most of the patients have foreign-body sensation at the beginning use of RGP-CL, very few patients had corneal abrasion condition. Conclusion:RGP-CL is an effective and safe correction method for patients with high myopia and high corneal astigmatism, it can provide the best retinal imaging quality and best corrected visual acuity. |
