Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of one traditional Chinese medicine prescription, Supplemented Wuling San pulvis, in the treatment of brain edema caused by traumatic brain injury.Methods:60craniocerebral injury patients were randomly divided into two groups, one treatment group and one control group (30in each). Patients in the control group were administered with routine western medicine including dehydrants, hemostatics and neurotrophic drugs, while patients in the treatment group additionally accepted Supplemented Wuling San pulvis. Both groups were continuously treated for10days. On the1st,3rd and10th day, therapeutic effect was compared according to the changes of brain edema, midline shift, Glasgow coma score (GCS), blood electrolytes, hepatic and renal function, fasting blood glucose, Glasgow outcome score (GOS,1month after injury), and daily mean urine volume as well.Results:On the10th day, the changes of cerebral edema, midline shift, GCS, K+and Na+electrolytes in the treatment group were significantly better than those in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion:The traditional Chinese medicine prescription Supplemented Wuling San pulvis can effectively treat brain edema caused by traumatic brain injury. |
