Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of chitosan used inchildren’s superficial second-degree burn wounds. Methods:Twenty children with superficial second-degree burnwounds were randomly divided into chitosan (A)group, amikacin (B)group, povidone iodine and rb-bFGF(C)group,povidone iodine (D)group,with5cases in each group, every case in each group was treated withcorresponding drug differs from other groups, bacterial culture, woundhealing time, blood biochemistry test were carried out before and7daysafter treatment, clinical effects, side effects and complications are alsoobserved and evaluated.Results:(1) The bacteria detection rate, distribution of bacteria, drugsensitivity test, wound healing time, clinical effects did not have significantdifference in all4groups before and after treatment, P>0.05.(2) In all4groups,the white blood cells count (WBC) in the first day after burn weresignificantly increased, above the normal range, and descended into normal ranges in7days after treatment, P<0.05.(3) Other blood biochemistry itemsdid not present such significant difference before and after treatment withineach group in all4groups,P>0.05, and most of them are in the normalrange.(4) No side effects and complications occurred in all cases. Conclusions:Compared with povidone iodine, amikacin, andorganosilicon quaternary ammonium salt, chitosan has an equalanti-infection effect in treating children’s superficial second-degree burnwounds, and no side effects, it also has wound healing effect to a certainextent.
