| Objectives:The aim of this study was to evaluate the risk of atherosclerosis inradiofrequency ablation from intima and adventitia of the renal artery.Methods:14healthy beagles were randomly divided into control group (n=4),1monthgroup (n=5) and3month group (n=5). All beagles were taken renal arteryangiography from femoral artery approach under general anesthesia and peripheralvenous blood were draw before operation. Beagles in1month group and3monthgroup were randomly selected one side renal artery for ablation through intima andthe contralateral renal artery for ablation through adventitia by abdominal surgericalprocedures after renal arteriography were completed. Beagles in control group werenot processed. Beagles in1month group,3month group and two of the control groupwere put to death under euthanasia after1and3months. Peripheral venous blood andthe two sides of renal artery were extracted. The blood samples were tested by ELISAmethod to detect the content of ICAM-1and VCAM-1. All of the renal arteries were taken routine histologic examination to observe the morphology and organizingcytology changes and immunohistochemical examination and Western Blot to test theexpression of ICAM-1and VCAM-I in normal and ablated renal artery. Results:Compared with the control group, the serum ICAM-1and VCAM-1level in1month group and3month group were increased and the difference was statisticallysignificant (P<0.01). The expression of ICAM-1and VCAM-1in endothelial cellswere obviously higher in1month and3month group than the control group. And it ismore obvious in endometrial ablation group than the outer membrane ablation group. The total expressions of ICAM-1and VCAM-1in the renal artery were statisticallysignificant in1month and3month group than the control group and endometrialablation group was higher than the outer membrane ablation and the differences werestatistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusions:Both the inner membrane ablation and outer membrane ablation can causedamage to the renal artery and bring about the increase of the expression of initialadhesion molecules ICAM-1and VCAM-1so that the risk of renal arteryatherosclerosis is increased. Compared with the inner membrane ablation, the outermembrane ablation causes a smaller damage and a lower risk of renal arteryatherosclerosis. |
