| ObjectiveTo study the surgical outcomes of open globe injury and prognostic factorsMethodA prospective studie of36zone III open globe injury eyes(36cases) from July2012to August2013. Type of injury, time and method of sugical intervention, outcomes were summarized and analysed.Results⑴Overview36patients from age5to65(average age35.1), the distance fromlimbus to the wound from5mm to20mm (Average9.01mm).⑵Final Visual Acuity Final VA of21eyes improve(59.3%). In the cases ofNLP eyes of pre-operation assessment,3cases achieve LP,2cases improve to HMand4cases received Enucleation. In the cases of LP eyes of pre-operation assessment,19cases remain the same and13eye improved and3cases received Enucleation.⑶Observation During the Surgery3eyes have no retina found,4eyes havecommotio retina,6eye have PVR,34eye have retina detachment,31eyes havevitreous hemorrhage,4eyes have endophthalmitis and IOFB are found in8eyes.⑷Reattachment of Retina In the34eyes with retina detachment achieveanatomical success:16eyes reattached with single PPV;2eyes in12eyes recievedPPV combined Scleral Buckle still detached;15eyes reattached from PPV andpeeling of epi-retina membrane, inwhich8eyes combined with Scleral Buckle;5eyes underwent repeat PPV and4eyes has peripheral retinaectomy, but1eye failed in retina reattachment.Eventhough61.8%of the cases achieve anatomical attachment,88.8%of theeyes are low vision or legally blind.ConclusionPPV is a prospective intervention of Zone III open globe injury. PPV mayreduce the chance of Enucleation and restore the visual function. |
