The Clinical Observation Of The Treatment For H-Type Hypertension By The Combination Of Semen Plantaginis And Epimedium

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of the treatment for H hypertension patients by the combination of semen plantaginis and epimedium and to explore its possible mechanism.MethodsThe case control study was performed in60patients with essential hypertension, which were randomly divided into treatment group and control group of30patients. The basic therapeutic schedule:Grade1hypertension patients only take enalapril-folic acid tablet(sig:10.8mg, QD), which consists of10mg enalapril and0.8mg folacin. Grade2hypertension patients also take enalapril-folic acid tablet(sig:10.8mg, QD). But if it can not control the blood pressure well, calcium channel blockade should be plus. Treatment group patients took additional Bushen Yixin Tablets(sig:4pills, P.0, tid), but control group only accepted basic treatment. Two groups of patients measured or calculated serum Hey levels, blood pressure and total mark of clinical symptom before and after treatment. The statistical analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software, version19.00.Results1. Clinical Effect:According to the comprehensive evaluation of symptom integral, the total effective rate was significantly higher (P<0.05) in treatment group(90%) versus control group(80%).2. Total score of symptoms:The total score of symptoms that were comparable had no statistical difference between treatment group and control group(P>0.05). After two groups of treatments, they were obviously reduced (both P <0.01). Besides, There were significant differences of the total score of symptoms between the two groups (P<0.05).3. Antihypertensive effects:The total effective rate of anti-hypertension Group in treatment group (86.67%) was higher than that of control group (76.67%) after treating(P<0.01).4. Serum Hcy levels:Serum Hcy levels that were comparable had no statistical difference between treatment group and control group(P>0.05). After two groups of treatments, serum Hcy were decreased significantly(P<0.01; P<0.05). However, there was no statistical difference(P>0.05) in two groups after treating. ConclusionIt has obvious effects in improving clinical symptoms and lowering blood pressure in patients with H hypertension by combining traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment. Besides, it has no evident side effect. Because of its efficacy and safety, it generally becomes a common therapy which can improve quality of life.
