Objective: In this paper, we investigated and found that hepatitis B surface antibodyhad decreasing trend with the growth of the age. Whether this trend is caused by ageor other factors is the main content of this research. Methods: We collected serum from non-hepatitis patients of the first affiliated hospitalof Dalian medical university with hepatitis B surface antibody positive (anti HBscontent>10IU/L), hepatitis B surface antigen negative (HBsAg <0.05IU/L), eantigen negative (HBeAg <1IU/L), aspartate transaminase normal(male:15<AST<40U/L,female:15<AST<35U/L) and alanine aminotransferasenormal(male:9<ALT<50U/L,female:7<ALT<40U/L). Altogether110cases(male55case, female55) were included in this research. Experimental group: according toage, e antibody and core antibody negative or positive, patients were divided into fourgroups: first, single antibody positive youth group: age24-26, e antibody negative, core antibody negative(10male and10female patients). Second, single antibodypositive middle-aged group: age45-50, e antibody negative, core antibody negative(10male and10female patients). Third,2and/or3antibody positive youth group: age24-26, either e antibody or core antibody positive, or both are positive(15male and15female). Last,2and/or3antibody positive middle-aged group: age45-50, either eantibody or core antibody positive, or both are positive(20male and20female). Wedetected hepatitis B surface antibody by chemiluminescence immunoassay methodusing automatic Roche cobas e601analyser. All serum samples were diluted at certain ratio until hepatitis B surface antibody content of the last dilution was <10IU/L. We detected cytomegalovirus antibody(CMV-IgG) in samples of the third and lastgroups. And we diluted these samples at certain ratio until cytomegalovirus antibodycontent of the last dilution was<14AU/L. The antibody activity and titer of fourgroups were analysed statistically. Results: The antibody activity level of2and/or3antibody positive youth group wassignificantly higher than that of2and/or3antibody positive middle-aged group (P <0.05). The cytomegalovirus IgG antibody activity level of2and/or3antibody positiveyouth group was significantly higher than that of2and/or3antibody positivemiddle-aged group (P <0.05). The antibody activity of2and/or3antibodies youthgroup was significantly higher than that of single antibody positive youth group((P <0.01). The antibody activity of2and/or3antibodies middle-aged group wassignificantly higher than that of single antibody positive middle-aged group((P <0.01).Conclusion: Hepatitis B surface antibody has decreasing trend with the growth of theage. The possible reason is that antibody response pattern is different in the process ofhepatitis B virus infection.
