Tooth Bleaching Using A Diode Laser In Clinical Cases

Objective: The aim of this research is to summarize and discuss the availableinformation concerning the efficacy, effects and side effects of a diode laser-activatedbleaching in different tooth whitening technologies.Method: This research selects ten patients come to our hospital during the periodbetween April2012and April2013as the objects, all these patients were not satisfiedwith the color of their teeth. And they received a dental bleaching with diode laser.First of all, the patients need a teeth cleaning. second, wet insulation and doctors weargoggles. A hydrogen peroxide bleaching agent stimulated with diode laser was used tolighten stained or discolored teeth. Every extrinsic discoloration tooth should beirradiated vertically for30seconds with a2W power diode laser at a distance of0.2mm～0.5mm, and the treatment complete in one time. The intrinsic discoloration toothshould be treated twice every other week. The patients will be observed for a year.Results: Laser-induced bleaching gave a significant color improvement after treatment,and there were no oral irritation or sensitivity occurred among the patients. Toothcolour relapse has not be observed throughout the year.Conclusion: If only we severely select the indication and the bleaching method,standardize the operations, laser-activated bleaching gave a significant tooth whiteningeffect without significant side effects.
