Objective: To analyse the clinical effects of ulnar elongation with Ilizarov externalfixator in diaphyseal aclasis associated with radial head dislocation and ulnar deviation ofthe wrist, following up the correction of the forearm deformity and radial head relocation. Methods: A retrospective analysis was carried out in6patients treated by Ilizarovexternal fixator in Soochow University affiliated children’s hospital from December2008to December2013.The patients included3males and3females, the average age of thepatients was10.5years (from7to11years), following up the preoperative andpostoperative. The contrastive analysis included X-ray evaluation(US:ulnar shortening,RAA: radial articular angle, CS:carpal slip) and function evaluation(elbow and wristflexion/extension,wrist radial/ulnar-deviation,forearm pronation/supination).Results: All patients were followed up and the average of the follow-up time was6.5months (from5to9months).Forearm deformity has been improved significantly afteroperation.X-ray evaluation result showed US, RAA and CS were significantly decreasedafter operation. The elbow and wrist flexion/extension,wrist radial/ulnar-deviation,forearmpronation/supination improved markedly compared with preoperation. Conclusion: Ulnar elongation with Ilizarov external fixator in diaphyseal aclasiscould correct radial head dislocation and ulnar deviation of the wrist. After removedIlizarov external fixator, the forearm function was improved. |
