| Objective:To study the prevalence of overweight, obesity, abdominal obesity and its related diseases such as hypertension, diabetes of the elder population, and to analyze the related factors of overweight, obesity, abdominal obesity.Methods:(1)2974subjects aged≥45years was selected from13towns of a district, in Tianjin, who have lived in Tianjin for over5years by multi-phasic stratified cluster sampling method. The information of basic data, including name, gender, age, marital status, occupation and education, and smoking, alcohol drinking and history of diseases, was collected, and height, weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, blood glucose were detected.. The Epidata database was stablished according to the information collected.(2) Univariate and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze the related factors of overweight, obesity, abdominal obesity, and to compute the odds ratio (OR) and its95percent of confidence interval.Results:(1) The participants consisted of1333male (44.8%) and1641female (55.2%), aged from45to98years, average age (67.01±6.86) years, in which60-70years owns the largest proportion of60.2%. The prevalence of overweight, obesity, abdominal obesity was35.4%,15.0%,83.5%, respectively. The prevalence of hypertension was48.6%and59.3%in overweight, obesity group, respectively, which was significantly higher than the normal weight population (32.8%), and the prevalence increased with the BMI. The prevalence of hypertension in abdominal obesity (45.3%) was significantly higher than nonabdominal obesity group (34.4%). The prevalence of type2diabetes mellitus in overweight, obesity group was15.7%and18.1%respectively, which increased with the growth of BMI. The prevalence of type2diabetes mellitus in abdominal obesity (15.4%) was significantly higher than nonabdominal obesity group (5.1%). The prevalence of both hypertension and type2diabetes mellitus in overweight, obesity group and abdominal obesity (9.6%,11.5%and8.5%respectively) was significantly higher than in normal weight population.(2) The results of logistic regression showed that education (OR=1.164,95%CI:1.029-1.316), hypertension (OR=1.979,95%CI:1.640-2.389) and type2diabetes mellitus were related with high risk of overweight, while age and smoking were related with low risk of overweight. Alcohol drinking(OR=1.357,95%CI:1.003-1.837), hypertension (OR=2.962,95%CI:2.401-3.655) and type2diabetes mellitus were related with high risk of obesity, while age and smoking were related with low risk of obesity. Age (OR=1.493,95%CI:1.247-1.786), hypertension (OR-1.609,95%CI:1.290-2.005) and type2diabetes mellitus (OR=3.076,95%CI:1.981-4.777) were related with high risk of abdominal obesity, while age and smoking were related with low risk of abdominal obesity. Conclusion:The prevalence of overweight, obesity, abdominal obesity in participants was higher, and the prevalence of hypertension and type2diabetes in overweight, obesity and abdominal obesity population was higher than in normal weight population. Age, gender, education, smoking, alcohol drinking, hypertension and type2diabetes mellitus were associated with overweight and obesity. |
