ObjectiveTo explore the influential factors of children suffering from pneumonia incompliance with treatment of decoction of Chinese medicine and to provide gist for increasing patients compliance with treatment. The compliance status of the children with pneumonia were been investigated, and the results provided basis to improve the diagnosis and treatment of Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)of children with pneumonia.MethodsThe study was performed on180patients with pneumonia(104males and76females;ages,1-12yr;mean age:5.7yr). All of these children were randomly selected from in-patients who accepted the traditional Chinese medicine decoction in Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Zhongshan during the period from Feb.2013to Feb.2014. The diagnostic criteria of children with pneumonia by the "ZhuFuTang practical pediatrics version7"was used, which was edited by HuYamei etc. TCM syndrome type is phlegm-heat obstructing the lung syndrome, which is in accordance with the diagnostic criteria defined by the"Pediatrics of TCM", edited by WangShouChuan etc. Firstly, parents would been provided questionnaires, including age, gender, family economy, parents’ understanding of the knowledge of pneumonia, degree of the cognition of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of pneumonia, trust in medical staff, medication compliance, nonadherence reason. Then, the difference index among these patients would been observed. Analysis on the factors of single factor test afterwards. Finally, statistically significant factors which were confirmed would entered into the Non conditional Logistic regression analysis. Results 1、In180cases of children with Chinese medicine decoction oral treatment, only109patients followed their doctor’s prescription that make compliance rate60.56%, and the opposite children hold40%.2、5research target are the influencing factors related to traditional Chinese medicine decoction oral treatment compliance in the single factor test. They are education (p=0.0002), degree of understanding (p=0.0001), the cognitive degree (p=0.0000), the degree of trust (p=0.0005), Chinese medicine factor (p=0.000).3、Variables like gender, age, domestic economy do not affect the children’ s compliance. Their P values respectively were0.7523,0.084, and0.5064.4、After excluding interactions between various factors, multivariate analysis confirm that cultural degree, awareness, understanding, trust degree are the risk factors (OR>1) of non adherence of children to medication.Conclusion1、The compliance of traditional Chinese medicine decoction oral treatment in children with pneumonia is too limited.2、Gender, age and family income have no significant effect on the compliance of children accepting traditional Chinese medicine decoction oral treatment.3、Higher education level of parents is linked to a greater compliance of children. Parents make compliance of children higher, when they learn more knowledge of pneumonia and Chinese medicine treatment. The more the parents trust in the medical staff, the more their children comply with with the doctor’s advice.
