Objective: Based on91cases of children and adolescents in Yunnan Region ethmoid sinus multislice spiral CT scan imaging data were retrospectively analyzed, using3-D reconstruction software to analysis and study the relativity of children and adolescents ethmoid sinus development and age.Methodology:1. Retrospective analysis of91cases (182sides) in Yunnan Region0-20years old children and adolescents due to various reasons in the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University Imaging Center line sinuses-head ethmoid sinus CT scan of the normal image information, which can be divided into four age groups to study.2. Firstly reconstruct2-D graphic images using Simplantll.043-D medical image processing software. Continuously observe the2-D plane images and measure the maximum anteroposterior diameter, longitudinal diameter, and transverse diameter of the bilateral ethmoid sinus by the conventional method of measurement. Then reconstruct3-D shape of the ethmoid sinus. In the successive slicing of the3-D morphology, identify the foremost and rearmost points(anteroposterior diameter), highest and lowest points(longitudinal diameter), innermost and outermost points(transverse diameter) of each the ethmoid sinus3-D space. Measure the distance between the corresponding two points on coronal plane, transverse plane, and sagittal plane respectively, and record corresponding data as z, y, x.Results:1. Relationship between various diameters measured values in different age groups under different measuring plane and age(1) The relationship between various diameters measured values in the two-dimensional plane measurement and age:Left ethmoid sinus anteroposterior diameter (r=0.711, P<0.001), transverse diameter (r=0.843, P<0.001), longitudinal diameter (r=0.235, P<0.05), and right ethmoid sinus anteroposterior diameter (r=0.738, P<0.001), transverse diameter (r=0.842, P<0.001), longitudinal diameter (r=0.676, P<0.001) has a linear relation with age, and increase along with the age growth.(2) The relationship between various diameters measured values in the three-dimensional plane measurement and age:Left ethmoid sinus anteroposterior diameter (r=0.599, P<0.001), transverse diameter (r=0.785, P<0.001), longitudinal diameter (r=0.764, P<0.001), and right ethmoid sinus anteroposterior diameter (r=0.590, P<0.001), transverse diameter(r=0.792, P<0.001), longitudinal diameter (r=0.743, P<0.001) has a linear relation with age, and increase along with the age growth.2. Different measurement plane under each of the age cohorts was compared with the cohort immediately preceding and following it.The diameters in the two-dimensional plane in the<2years old group, group2-8,8to14age group two comparison between three groups (P<0.05), there is statistical significance, showing that after birth to14for the diameters of rapid growth. Under the three-dimensional plane around, both left and right ethmiod sinus anteroposterior diameter in age<2,2-8years old group comparison between the two groups P <0.05, statistically significant, indicating that after the birth to8years for these two diameters of rapid growth. The remaining diameters in the<2years old group,2-8,8to14years of age group pairwise comparisons among the three groups P<0.05, mere is statistical significance, showing that after birth to14years for these diameters of rapid growth.3. The various diameters comparation between Different measurement plane in the same age group.<2years age group,2-8years old,8-14years old,14-20years old each of four age groups sinus diameter line in two-dimensional plane, three-dimensional surface measurement P>0.05, no statistical significance.Conclusion:1. Different age groups of the mesurement of sinus diameter line in two-dimensional plane, three-dimensional plane has a linear relation with age, and each diameter line growth with increasing age.2. Two-dimensional, three-dimensional measurement plane14years ago is all around ethmoid diameters rapid growth period.3. Using spiral CT combined with simplant software to preceed ethmoid sinus3-D reconstruction and simulation technology of3-D model can get vivid three-dimensional effect, stereo sense is strong, more accurately response around ethmoid sinus and adjacent to the spatial location relationship of each structure, and has the clinical significance of ethmoid sinus disease diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and surgical risk assessment.
