Objective To research the rate of Hp eradication, situation of clinical remission andincidence of adverse reactions of WEIDEAN combined with quadruple therapy intheatment of duodenal ulcer (DU) with Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection.Methods60Hp positive DU patients diagnosed by endoscopy, rapid urease test andC14urea breath test were randomly divided into2groups. The Comparison group:30cases were involved in this group and were treated with quadruple therapy(esomeprazole enteric-coated tablets40mg per day,220mg of bismuth potassiumcitrate particles,1000mg of amoxicillin capsules, and100mg of furazolidone, each2times per day, oral for two weeks. The Observation group:30cases also wereinvolved in this group, they were treated for2weeks by quadruple therapy(mentioned above) combined with WEIDEAN of three capsules each time and threetimes per day. Then,40mg of esomeprazole enteric-coated tablets was alone takencontinuously per day for2weeks for all subjects in two groups. There were nosignificant difference in gender and age between these two groups. The C14ureabreath test was performed again after one month of the end of the treatment. The rateof Hp eradication, situation of clinical remission and incidence of adverse reactionswere analyzed and compared between above two groups. Results The Hp eradication cases and rate were26cases and86.7%, respectively, inthe Comparison group, and were28cases and93.3%, respectively, in the Observationgroup. There was no significant difference in Hp eradication rate between two groups(P>0.05). In the Comparison group, symptoms of22cases were eased and theresponse rate was73.3%after two weeks of treatment; In the Observation group, theywere28cases and93.3%, respectively. There was significant diference in symptomremission rate between two groups (P<0.05). Clinical symptom scores of subjectsdecreased after treatment in both two groups, compared correspondingly with those before treatment (P<0.05in Comparison group, P<0.01in Observation group). Therewas significant difference in clinical symptom scores after treatment between twogroups(P<0.05).The adverse reactions were found in10cases in the Comparisongroup, the incidence of adverse reaction was33.3%; they were3cases and10.0%,respectively, in the Observation group. The incidence of adverse reaction was lower inthe Observation group than that in the Comparison group (P<0.05). There was onepatient stopped treatment because of severe nausea and vomiting in the Comparisongroup, but no similar case in the Observation group. Conclusions Hp eradication rate of quadruple therapy is higher in treatment ofpatients with Hp positive DU. Compared with the pure quadruple therapy, thetreatment of WEIDEAN combined with quadruple therapy can get similar Hperadication rate, obvious clinical remission and lower incidence of adverse reactions,in treatment of Hp positive DU. It is indicated that WEIDEAN combined withquadruple therapy can effectively control the Hp infection, and has some advantagesin improving gastrointestinal discomfort and in preventing adverse events. And itmight be used generally in the clinic for the treatment of Hp related DU.
