Objective To evaluate the influence of patellar resurfacing on total knee arthroplasty。Methods From September2010to November2010,69patients who underwent TKAin Orthopedic Department,Affiliated Hospital Ningxia Medical University were covered inthis study, they were randomly assigned to one of two groups:resurfacing of the patellar,35patients;retention of the patellar,34patients. They were followed for six weeks、threemonths、six months、twelve months.Evaluation was performed with use of the knee score、knee function score, patellar score system, incidence of postoperative anterior knee pain andradiographs。All datas were analyzed using SPSS17.0software,The measured data wereexpressed by mean+standard deviation(x S),between the two groups using t test andbetween the sample rates using x2test for comparison, significant statistical difference usedP<0.05.Results As to knee score and radiographs,no significant difference between the twogroups was detected(P>0.05).However.there was significant difference between the twogroups on knee function score for6months and12months(P<0.05),there was significantdifference between the two groups on patellar score for12months。The resurfacing of thepatellar can reduce incidence of postoperative anterior knee pain(P<0.05).Conclusion Patella replacement group can improved knee function score, patellarscore and reduce incidence of postoperative anterior knee pain。The postoperative mean kneescore and radiographs were no significant between the two groups.
