| 10 strains of endophytic fungi were isolated from Chinese Eaglewood. All the strains were classified into 4 different genera,1 families,1 order by their microscopical morphological characteristics. They were Penicillium, Aspergillus, Monilia, and Paecilomyces Bain.6 of them were Paecilomyces Bain, which indicated Paecilomyces Bain was the dominant genus of endophytic fungus from Chinese Eaglewood.10 compounds were isolated from the fementation liquid of strain R7 by column chromatography, and their structures were elucidated by physicochemical and spectral data (UV, IR, MS, 1D and 2D NMR) as:p-hydroxybenzaldehyde (1), p-hydroxyphenylacetic acid (2),p-hydroxyphenethyl alcohol (3),3,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid (4),p-hydroxytoluene (5), N-(6-hydroxyhexyl)-acetamide (6), 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(7), (3β,5α,6β,22E)-ergosta-7,22-diene-3,5,6-triol (8) thymidine (9), and (-)-(11R)-Eudesm-4-11-12-triol (10).The antimicrobial activities of all the compounds were assayed using paper disco diffusion method. The antibacterial assay result indicated that compounds 2~7 and 10 showed inhibitory effects on Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and compounds 2,5,7, and 10 showed inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus. Compounds 8 and 10 showed inhibitory effects on Pseudomonas solaacearum Smith and Panagrellus redivivus. Compounds 8 showed inhibitory effects on Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. Cubense. The cytotoxic activities of all the compounds were assayed by MTT method. None of the compounds exhibited cytotoxic activities against SMMC-7721, SGC-7901, and K562 cell lines.4-(3’-(hydroxymethyl)oxiran-2’-yl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenol was transformation by the endophytic fungus R7 of Aquilaria sinensis. TLC and HPLC analysis showed that this strain has ability of microbialtransformation, which was stable in this experiment. |
