The effects of irradiation on mating, longevity of Bactrocera dorsalis males from genetic sexing strain (GSS) and the longevity after fed methel eugenol (ME) were studied, and the influence of ME fed by the larvae from the same strain on quality were studied too.1. Male pupae came from GSS of B. dorsalis were irradiated by 137Cs at the dose of 100Gy at -2d. The relative sterile index (RSI), relative isolation index (RII), mating and longevity were tested. The results show that the sterile males had equal competitiveness with the wild males, the mating peak emerged more early than the wild flies, the longevity significantly shorten after irradiation, and releasing the same number of females would disturb the sterile males’mating.2. The longevity was significantly shortened, the mating competitiveness was enhanced, and the trend to ME was lower when sterile males were fed by ME.3. After fed with different dose of ME (0、50、100、150、200、250μL /100g), the pupal weight, survival rate, flight ability, mating competitiveness and the trend of the ME of the oriental fruit fly larvae came from GSS had no significant differences compared with control. The results showed that the treatments did not significantly improve the quality, the mating competitiveness, and the trend to ME.
