Study On Ectoparasitic Trichodinids From Fishes Along The Area Of Poyang Lake,Jiangxi Province

The morphological taxonomy, biodiversity, infection and habitat characteristcs of ectoparasitic trichodinids in Poyang Lake area were investigated in the present work. The results show that the infection of ectoparasite trichodinids in the area is related to such factors as the host, infection site, aquatic environment, temperature. Among those host fishes, Carassius auratus was mostly infected by the trichodinid species-rich, and Channa argues was the infected heavily by trichodinid species. When compared with other aquatic environments, fishes in aquaculture water are much more susceptible to trichodinids.By way of living observation and dry silver impregnation method, the detailed redescriptions of 20 trichodininds of freshwater fishes along the area of Poyang Lake, Jiangxi Province are given in the present paper following the widespread acceptance of the uniform specific characteristics proposed by Lom (1958) and the description of denticle elements recommended by Van As & Basson (1989). which belong to four genera of Mobilina,12 species belonging to Trichodina Ehrenberg,1838:T. mutabilis Kazubski & Migala,1968; T. heterodentata Duncan,1977; T. hyperparasitis Chen & Hsish,1984; T. domerguei (wallengren,1897), T. maritinkae Basson & Van As,1991; T. lechriodentata Zhao & Tang,2007; T. uniforma Van As & Basson,1989; T. wulai Van & Basson,1994; T. reticulata Hirschman & Partsch,1955; T. nobilis Chen,1963; T. matsu Basson & Van As,1994 and T. modest Lom,1970; 2 species of Paratrichodina Lom,1963:P. rhodei sp. nov.; P. corlissi Lom & Haldar,1977; 3 species of Tripartiella Lom,1959:T. rhodei sp. nov.; T. microctenopmae Basson & Van As,2002; T. macrosoma Basson & Van As,1987; 3 species of Trichodinella (Rabbe,1950) Sramek-Husek,1953:T. epizootica (Rabbe,1950) Sramek-Husek,1953; T. carpi Duncan,1977; T. subtilis Lom & Haldar,1977. Among them, two were described as new species, two were established as first record of Asia, six as first records of new hosts, sixteen as first records of Jiangxi area.The Poyang Lake is a very important fish-breeding base in Jiaxi area; the trichodinid investigation in this area is beneficial to healthful development for aquaculture and at the same time, new data can be supplied for the trichodinid research in China from the present work.
