The Pinus massoniana which came from collecting area and filial generation of Dou Yun Pinus massoniana seed orchard were chosen as the study objects in this paper, the growth characteristics and wood properties, such as height, diameter at breast height and canopy were investigated. and then the principal component analysis and the comprehensive index methods were used to choose Pinus massoniana second generation breeding parents, ISSR-PCR genetic diversity was analysized and the fingerprint was built for Pinus massoniana second generation breeding parents, the main results were as follows:1.The spatial distribution of Pinus massoniana male and female flowers presented on obvious stratification. Male flowers(78%) mainly distributed on the upper canopy, female flowers(89%) mainly distributed on the lower. Also, there was a large difference between the quantity of male and female flowers during the different clones or families, the proportion of male and female flowers is 2:3, in individual clones, there were a significant phenomenon of partial female and partial male.2. There were large variation coefficient and significant differences of the tree height, DBH, canopy, branch angle and quality of male and female flowers between the different clones or families. The heritability of canopy, branch angle and quality of male and female flowers were medium to high intensity(>0.5). The heritability of tree height and DBH were the weaker. There was a significant positive correlation between the tree height, DBH, canopy, branch angle and quality of male and female flowers; and the quality of female flowers and the quality of male or the canopy were negatively related, but with no significant correlation.3.The equation built by principal component analysis for growth characters was, and the equal-weighted unconstrained index equation has been established too..Using these two methods, we have selected 28 superior clones from 98 clones of collecting area as the second generation candidates.4.The research on the wood properties and chemical constituents of 48 families in Pinus massoniana half-sib filial generation seed orchard showed that :there were significant differences of the wood basic density, 1% Na OH extractives, cellulose and lignin between the different Pinus massoniana families. There was a significant positive correlation between the tree height and diameter at breast height; diameter at breast height and basic density 、 tree height and 1% Na OH extractives was significant negative correlation; tree height and basic density was significantly negative correlation; the correlation between cellulose and lignin content was negative, but it was not significant.5.Using the comprehensive index method to build the equal-weighted unconstrained index equation of Pinus massoniana growth character and material properties:; index equation emphasized on growth character was; index equation emphasized on growth and and basic density was; index equation emphasized on growth and wood properties was. Using these four methods, we have selected 20 superior clones from 48 clones in Pinus massoniana half-sib filial generation seed orchard as the second generation candidates.6. ISSR was used to analysis genetic diversity of those selected parents. We found that after screening, parental genetic index declined, but the decline was not large. With UPGMA clustering method to analysis the second generation seed orchard percents, the parents had small genetic distance, high similarity and close genetic relationship, thus, we used the primer 807 and primer 900 in the same time to identify all the parents, and built the Pinus massoniana second generation breeding parents, fingerprint.
