Propyl4-(2-(4,6-dimethoxypyrimidin-2-yloxy)benzylamino)benzoate (ZJ0273), a derivative of2-pyrimidinyloxy-N-aryl benzoate, is a new herbicide, used in the Brassica napus fields. This study was carried out to investigate the effect of new herbicide ZJ0273in four concentrations (0,50,100and200mg/L) with combination of haloxyfop in four different concentrations (0,50,100and200mg/L) on the morphology, physiology, yield and quality as well as on weeds control in B. napus field and to find out the best combination of concentrations which gives the optimum result for all the parameters. The present work briefed as follows:1. Weed population was significantly low in all herbicide treatments when compared to control (no herbicides). In all three years, maximum reduction of weed population after2weeks and after6weeks of treatments was observed under the application of ZJ0273at the rate of200mg/L+haloxyfop200mg/L. The second lowest value was observed under the combined application of200mg/L ZJ0273+100mg/L haloxyfop.2. Agronomic data were observed under direct seeding and transplanting conditions, with and without use of pre-emergence herbicides and with all the above mentioned herbicide mixtures. Yield components such as1,000-seed weight, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, seed yield per plant, and seed quality such as oil content, protein content, erucic acid and glucosinolate contents were obtained at the every combination. Highest1,000-seed weight was recorded under the application of50mg/L ZJ0273+50mg/L haloxyfop which was statistically at par with the treatments of50mg/L ZJ0273+100mg/L haloxyfop and with50mg/L ZJ0273+200mg/L haloxyfop mixtures. Maximum plant fresh and dry weights were observed under treatment of50mg/L ZJ0273+50mg/L haloxfop without any pre-emergence herbicide application.3. This study clearly indicated that ZJ0273at100mg/L is the best concentration for ZJ0273treatment alone for controlling the weeds with ignorable damage to B. napus crop. However50mg/L ZJ0273+100mg/L haloxyfop could be considered as the best combination which effectively controls the weeds by giving a higher rapeseed yield with best seed qualities. These promising results can point towards the future potentials of its application as a pragmatic approach to improve herbicide use in the B. napus crop fields.
