Mechanical coupling will be substituted by magnetic coupling with the development of magnetic machine. The synchronous magnetic coupling has the problem of demagnetization under high temperature, which restricts the application scope of magnetic coupling. In the paper, double solid rotor magnetic coupling is innovative designed according to the principle of electromagnetic induction, which resolves the problem of demagnetization under high temperature and improves the performance of common solid rotor magnetic coupling. Magnetic circuit is the core of magnetic coupling, so it is designed and equivalent magnetic circuit method is adopted to calculate the magnetic coupling in this paper. Air-gap magnetic field is important to magnetic coupling, and the analytic method is adopted to analyze it. The outer thickness of inner rotor is an important performance parameter to double-solid magnetic coupling, and the model of multi-layer theory is adopted to establish the calculation model of the outer thickness. The methods of calculating the torque and eddy loss are shown in this paper. In order to study the drive performance precisely, FEM and ANSYS are used to analyze the magnetic field, then the relationship between slip and torque is received; Analyzing the effect of the number of poles, the outer thickness of the inner rotor and the length of air-gap on the output torque of magnetic coupling. The veracity of numerical method is demonstrated by experiment.
