Nowadays, as the most important and indispensable means of bulk material transport in the world, Belter conveyor has good economy, stable performance and strong transportation ability and especially plays a key role in the mining industry. Its direction is constantly developing towards the Launch, long distance, and high speed. However, the matter of starting the Belter conveyor also follow, owing to the special viscoelastic properties which becomes more obvious in the long distance transport. As a result, we need to use the auxiliary device to deal with itThe term soft starting mode involving in the paper is that we take the Automatic Transmission to start the Belter conveyor.Namely, we use the hydraulic torque converter and the hydraulic performance, flexible transmission and adaptability of load impact and coupled with the transmission gear change to control the speed of change, to reduce the starting acceleration and to ease the impact of the mutation of conveyor belt. In order to establish the simulation model of the soft start mode, firstly,this paper studies the inherent characteristics of conveyor belt(static and dynamic), selects the appropriate mathematical model, and establishes the model in AMESim, four kinds of starting acceleration curve come out with the help of using signal simulation and verify responding of curve of the standard models to the acceleration in the study; Secondly, Study on properties of Hydraulic Torque Converter and combined with characteristic curve to understand their load adaptability, gear change and different gear transmission ratio of planetary transmission, as well as the structure and the properties of wet clutch and brake. Transmission model is established in the AMESim and tested their transmission performance. Lastly, the corresponding parameters of are adjusted to establish the Automatic Transmission model of the hydraulic automatic transmission gearbox that drives Belter conveyor. Selecting the appropriate starting mode is depended on the analysis of 5 kinds of starting situations and combined with the data of conveyor belt tension, velocity, acceleration and the motor speed. Analysis of simulation proves the feasibility of automatic transmission proposed in this paper to start belter conveyor.
