The Transformation And Regeneration Of The Traditional City Commercial Block

The city is the crystal of the social development of the human being. Each city has its unique cultural deposits and development track. However, with the progress of the society and science, people’s living standard has been improved year by year. However, relatively speaking, our life has gone through great change, as well as many cities. The economic construction is being carried out in large scale over the country. The historical cultural heritage of many cities are cleaned up as the rubbish, which is really so distressing. The protection of the cultural heritage, especially the protection of the urban historical cultural heritage still has some problems. The popular scenic spots, new buildings and commercial streets are largely identical but with minor differences. Besides, the traditional streets representing the urban culture disappear gradually, as well as the featured culture they represent. The old streets of the city carry the culture and memory of the local people, which is a continuity of the humanistic culture, and the precious material and spirit wealth.However, after entering into the 21 st century, the modern economy achieves rapid development. Consequently, the disadvantages of the old streets gradually came into being. The streets are narrow and crowded, and the economy is not vigorous, which affects the development of the old streets. To understand how to reform the old streets and make them regain the glory, we should study the characteristics of each city and streets, and carry out the transformation and regeneration based on these characteristics. Only in this way, the characteristics and culture of the city can be maintained and extended.This paper mainly starts from protecting the environment of the historical culture, discusses how to carry out updating the partial design of the traditional streets, and integrates the new and old buildings under the premise of not damaging the cultural deposits of the old streets. Besides, it lays emphasis on exploring the integration, transformation and regeneration technique of the old and new buildings in the old streets, as well as how to better development the urban space from the viewpoint of the forms. Moreover, the analysis is implemented based on the author’s field investigation and visit, and the actual cases. The author holds that we should carry out the research, and enable each citizen to realize the importance of the cultural heritage and how to proceed with the protection. How to implement the reasonable transformation and regeneration of the streets with historical culture is the most urgent topic in the current urban planning, and also the duty-bound responsibilities for the architecture and urban planning workers.
