The Research About The Spatial Configuration In Settlement Of Chengdu Plain By The Space Syntax

As the first urban and rural comprehensive reforming pilot area in China, Chengdu is developing its new rural construction and making it prevailing since integrating the urban and rural areas. The pattern of’dense forest with streams and bridges’is changing quietly. In the situation, it is significant for the research on the optimization of rural settlements space structure and guiding the new rural development. Furthermore, although the researches on Chengdu Plain rural settlement space have made a big difference, the existing researches only focus on qualitative research, which making it difficult to illustrate with objective quantitative data.This paper took Chengdu Plain rural settlement space as the research object, combined with a large number of field researches, based on space syntax theory, cognitive model of space by graphic language, and made a quantitative research on the analysis of ideas and methods to study for the Chengdu Plain rural settlement space; followed by quantification of the hierarchical spatial configuration of the settlement, thispaper uncovered the connections between space system configuration and resident behavior activities, and revealed the hidden traditional settlement form of production and life. Finally, through comparative analysis of diverse forms of settlement space, the paper tried to expoundthe traditional rural settlement spatial order and the texture context in Chengdu Plain, which can become the guide of constructing a new countryside.In this paper, the main research contents of the space syntax viewpoint base on the following:Firstly, exploringthe thoughts and methods which are suitable for the quantitative analysis of the settlements space in Chengdu Plain; then according to the basis of field investigation, this paper divided different patterns of rural settlements leaded by different production methods into inhabited settlements and scattered settlements. In addition, scattered settlements can be classified as traditional scattered settlement and modern scattered settlements. At the same time, the space of human settlements can be divided into three levels:whole street network space, local public space, residential building space, which were analyzed one by one by quantitative method and confirmed the feasibility and the rationality of their analytical results. Lastly, through the contrast analysis of the quantitative data about the settlement of the space level, this paper illustrated the underlying deep traditional culture gene which is hidden under the surface, and made a contribution to provide a reference for the construction of new countryside.This research depends on the National Natural Science Fund Project-Research on coupling effects between production modes and settlement patterns in Chengdu rural areas base on the background of urban-rural integration development. Becase of this,the research gets a reliable technology and theoretical support.
