Gear is extremely broad transmission for engineering applications, and it has a long history.With the rapid advance of industrialization, occasions for a variety of engineering gear strength, anti-vibration performance, low noise, etc. have become increasingly demanding. In some certain occasions, traditional gear has been difficult to meet the job requirements, therefore, more and more scholars is looking into the research of new gear, including the asymmetric gear which has two different pressure angle.It has strong bearing capacity, low vibration while meshing, low noise, etc. and is getting more and more attention.In this paper, a large number of references were consulted. According to this, the history and development direction of the gear was concluded. According to the development of asymmetric gear, the gear side with a big pressure angle was used as the non-working side at the beginning, and it changed to be used as the working side. And this paper discoursed this transform.In this paper, the side with the large pressure angle was considered as the working side. And the carrying capacity of the asymmetric gear was comprehensive analyzed. The tooth profile contact stress and the tooth root bending stress of the asymmetric gear were analyzed by using both Analytic Method and Finite Element Method. The analysis result was compared with that of the traditional gear.To optimize the gear’s carrying capacity, the gear tooth profile parameters were optimized analyzed.First, based on the principle of asymmetric gear machining, the paper deduced the tooth profile curves of asymmetric gears, including the involute equation and the tooth root transition curve equation. And the parametric model of the asymmetric gear was established by using these equations.Secondly, finite element simulation analysis of the asymmetric gear was done by using the program’Ansys Workbench’. According to the Analysis results, the influence of on both sides of the tooth profile on gear contact stress and bending stress was concluded, charts and curves were produced.Thirdly, according to the results of analysis and calculation, combined with asymmetric gear properly engaged conditions and continuous transmission conditions, the optimization module which take the carrying capacity as the optimization target of gear parameters was set up.In the process of establishing the optimization model, in order to avoid reaching local optima, I set a number of assumptions, ignore some of the optimization results little effect parameters.In one-way transmission, asymmetric gears with double pressure angles have obvious advantages comparing to the traditional symmetrical gears. Therefore, research and analysis of asymmetric gear has strong theoretical and practical significance.
