Research on the history of mathematics shows that there was no concept of angle in ancient China. However, angle positioning existed in the traditional technology. By studying the traditional technologies and mathematics, the paper summarizes several kinds of methods related to angle positioning and illuminates their mathematical logic, including dividing circle, regular polygon positioning, orientation, slope positioning and curve positioning. The concept of angle came from astronomy in the west. There was primitive concept of angle in ancient Chinese astronomy. But it didn’t turned into a unit of measurement, and it wasn’t used in area except astronomy. It even hindered the incoming of the concept of angle from foreign culture. Maybe it was because of the concept of doing everything by the time in ancient China. Timing in Chinese traditional construction also originated from it.
