Recently, with the frequent occurrence of natural disasters like earthquake, fire and floods, a Rotorcraft Unmanned Aircraft System (RUAS) with advanced onboard autonomous capabilities has become the research focus of many research institutions. Compare with fixed wing UAVs and manned aircraft, it is more suitable for the complex danger environment. As an important part of RUAS, the development and research of Ground Monitor and Control System (GMCS) have aroused wide interest home and abroad. In this paper, combined with the independent research and development of miniature Quadrotor, an expandable GMCS has been developed in the VS2008software platform. The system has several functions which includes the display of RUAS’s telemetry data, drawing the flight path, saving data,3D visual flight simulation and so on.The paper begins with the development status of the RUAS and the research background of GMCS, giving a detail description of the RUAS’s Research institutions and then giving a detailed narration of the realization process of each function module. The data of RUAS is received in real-time successfully with the serial communication programmed by MSComm. The remote sensing data’s storage use the text file. Data’s display includes text display and curve display and the curve of the RUAS data is displayed by using Teechart. The flight path is drawn through using secondary development technology of the electronic map made by MapInfo. The electronic map’s zoom, centered, automatic roaming function are realized by MapX.The3D model of the Quadrotor is designed using the AC3D software and loaded into the flight simulation software FlightGear using XML, and then the3D simulation flight is accomplished with the secondary development technology of FlightGear.The experimental results show that, the GMCS designed in this paper can work stably and meet the needs of the project and achieve the desired effect.
