Switching flux permanent magnet motor (SFPM) is a new type of novel machine withdoubly-salient structure, whose winding and permanent magnets placed in the stator which canbe used in high speed and high temperature requirement. It has the advantages of high torquedensity, high operating efficiency, easily to heated dissipation and cool, and suitable for highspeed operation, as well as good flux weakening speed capability. It has a good applicationprospect.This thesis calculated and analyzed a12/10SFPM machine. Firstly, research background,significance and development trend were introduced, and operating principle and structure ofSFPM were presented. Then, due to the presence of large cogging torque, it influences motorrunning seriously. So, dealing with SFPM rotor in skewing can reduce cogging torqueeffectively. Based on three–dimensional finite element analysis method, this thesis analyzedthe differences on SFPM of cogging torque and EMF. Simulation results shown that coggingtorque can be weaken effectively and the cogging ripple can be reduced by adaptingappropriate rotor skewing Meanwhile, it can also improve the various SFPM performances.For further research, electromagnetic calculation provided theoretical significance andapplication value. To establish the basic equations of magnetic circuit, mechanical andelectrical equations and mathematical models of the d-q axis, the complete mathematicalmodels of3-phase SFPM motor were built in rotor reference frames to provide theoreticalbasis of motor simulation.A vector-control strategy was applied to the3-phase SFPM motor in the control strategy,based on the rotor flux orientation,and a simulation model of three-phase motor12/10SFPMwas set up using Matlab/Simulink. Through the space voltage vector modulation(SVPWM)technique, the output voltage was controlled. Moreover, the operation characteristics,including the steady and dynamic were improved. The results show that id=0of the vectorcontrol system is suitable for SFPM motor.
