With the continuous development of urbanization, height and depth of thebuilding are constantly increasing. The space on the ground was remaining “few”, inorder to meet people’s needs, peoples are beginning to use of underground space, suchas the subway, civil defense, large underground shopping malls. A lot of developmentand utilization of underground space has led to the emergence of a large excavation, and the area and depth of excavation is also continuing to increase.Excavation is a three-dimensional spatial structure, but in the current excavationstructural design, designers are generally regarded excavation as two-dimensionalplane strain problem, and often overlooked beneficial effects of spatial effects, or thatspatial effects is especially small and don’t need think about it. This has resulted in thehigh cost of excavation and a great waste of material. This paper has studied on thespatial effects systematic based on the finite element software Plaxis3D, andproposed optimized design methods of supporting piles in the pit corner whenconsidering the spatial effect.Firstly, the excavation without supporting structure under the spatial effects werestudied, come out the horizontal displacement under the influence of a plane at rightangles and the range of influence of the spatial effect, thus guide future engineeringpractice. Secondly, this paper has studied on the pile anchor foundation pit excavationbased on Plaxis3D, and compared the pit deformation monitoring data withnumerical simulation data, so as to verified the validity of the excavation simulation. Then analyzed the spatial effect, the sheet pile wall with lateral variation of theangular range from the pits and excavation of anchored piles distance space effect bythis corner of the pit suggestions next few consider supporting structure designed tooptimize spatial effect.Due to the current study of pit spatial effect is not very mature, so fewer pitspatial effect is used in practical applications. In the company which did the optimizedesign of excavation in china, only few of them consider spatial effects in the work of optimize design. In fact, reasonably considering spatial effect under the ensuringsafety of pit not only can reduce the difficulty of excavation, but also can reduce theproject cost.
