Vehicle riding comfort is one of the most important performances of modern cars. Vehicle riding comfort will directly affect personnel comfort and have effect on vehicle dynamic quality and economy. Vehicle riding comfort has become a very important performance index in the vehicle market competition. With the advent of computer virtual simulation technology and its rapid development speed, the research method of vehicle riding comfort is being changed and improved constantly. Virtual simulation experiments have been done on automobile by using computer virtual simulation technology, which makes the design and development of modern cars tend to be more economic, fast, reasonable and accurate. Based on a practical model for reference, this paper studies the vehicle ride comfort. Vehicle model has been established by ADAMS /Car. The vehicle vertical acceleration has been analyzed under time domain and frequency domain. The ride comfort of vehicle model has been evaluated comprehensively and exactly by combining experiment and simulation, which can help study the influence on vehicle ride comfort by changing the stiffness and damping of suspension.The main research contents in this paper are as follows: First of all, analyze and simplify some actual vehicle model. Establish a vehicle multi-body dynamics model under ADAMS / Car module, including steering gear、Macpherson front suspension、multi-link rear suspension、tyre and so on, add reasonable and right constraints on the vehicle model established. Besides, analyze the vehicle ride comfort at different speed. Meanwhile, do multi-group experiments by changing the stiffness and damping of suspension to analyze the vehicle ride comfort and to study the influence of suspension stiffness and damping on vehicle ride comfort. According to the regulation of international standard and the requirement of the vehicle ride comfort study in our country, correctly analyze the ride comfort of vehicle model established by using weighted acceleration root mean square value. Finally, compare and analyze the simulation results and vehicle experiment results, which can verify the correctness of the whole vehicle model established and the genuineness and reliability of the results. In a word, the simulation and experimental research of the vehicle ride comfort have a great significance on improving vehicle ride comfort, reducing production cost and shortening research period of product.
