The reciprocating compressor has highly thermal efficiency, wide pressure range, strong adaptability, etc., which is widely used in petrolic and chemical industry. The efficiency of reciprocating compressors is closely related with the sealing structure between the piston and the cylinder. Therefore, how to improve the quality of the sealing and reduce the amount of leakage between the piston and the cylinder has become a very critical issue. As a non-contact seal, the labyrinth seal is low cost, reliability and stable performance, and has been widely used in reciprocating compressors in recent years. However, the manufacturing of reciprocating compressors is single or small quantities, and there is great difference is in different product models; meanwhile, there are many structural parameters on reciprocating compressors, which take much time to be optimized. Therefore, how to improve the quality of the labyrinth seal structure has become an important topic in the field of optimization and research about the labyrinth sealing structure of reciprocating compressors.In this paper, carry out optimization and analysis of the labyrinth sealing structural parameters in order to parametric design theory as guiding ideology, in order to basic equations of fluid mechanics theory as theoretical basis and in order to Pro / Engineer, FLUENT6.3 and Access2007 software as research tools. The followings are specific research methods:1.In allusion to traditional test methods changing a single variable every time, which leads to the problem of high deviation, study the test target( leakage) affected by the two variables by the method of changing two variables at the same time.2.In allusion to the problem of many structural parameters of the labyrinth seal and the cycle of long numerical simulation, group the structural parameters of the labyrinth seal by the orthogonal design method. Use the Pro / PROGRAM provided by Pro / Engineer software in order to make each size of the models parameterization, and input the size value of each structure in Pro / Engineer interface directly, so you can quickly create a new model, which can save the time of making models.3.The maze cavity models were introduced into Gambit which is a pre processing software, for each model maze cavity meshing and pointing to boundary conditions. Then import the meshing file into FLUENT6.3 to take the numerical simulation,and analyze contours of static pressure态contours of velocity magnitude and contours of turbulent kinetic energy, etc., then come the end face value leakage.4.Combine the result of numerical simulation with the theoretical calculation formulas and the range analysis method, to analyze the trend and change of leakage and point to the best result of the sealing structural parameters. Step 3 and Step 4 is the core of the subject and the focus of the studying jobs.5.Put the optimal structural parameters into the Access2007 and establish a form corresponding to data table and query. Designers only need to enter the query conditions through the query form, and obtain the optimal labyrinth sealing structural parameters of reciprocating compressors.
