For the evaluation of speech intelligibility in fluctuating noise condition, the latest international research results mainly includes modifying the existing assessment methods and proposing new evaluation methods. The main work in this paper:along the research idea of modifying existing methods, to modify the STI method on the basis of existing research results and put forward ESTI method. And verifying the evaluative ability of ESTI method to Chinese speech intelligibility.Proposing ESTI method is accomplished by theoretical analysis. First of all, confirming the correct idea of STI. Second, For the mainly correction step:calculating time length and upward masking effect correction, determining the real instantaneous pressure level in the calculation of ESTI using the method of ear GAP threshold value multiplied by the coefficient and masking effect correction formula put forward by Ludvigsen. Therewith, establishing ESTI method based on ESTI calculation process. Based on the above parts of the work, theoretical research results in this paper:ESTI method can objectively evaluate speech intelligibility in fluctuation noise conditions more accurate.The overall inspection process in terms of experimental test:on the basis of the objective measurement and subjective evaluation to Chinese speech intelligibility, fitting relationship curve of the data results and quantitative analyzing the evaluation ability of ESTI method by the standard deviation of fitting curve. Specific to the actual operation:In the design of experiment, the noise used in this experiment covers all the characteristics of fluctuating noise and test room also consider the influence of different reverberation conditions on speech intelligibility. Adopting a series of measures to ensure the scientific experiment in the process of measuring. In order to comparing data, the original STI method is applied to measure in the same condition. In this experiment, the standard deviation of subjective and objective relation curve is 5.79%, which is in the acceptable range. The result shows that ESTI method is a accurate method to evaluate Chinese speech intelligibility in fluctuation noise situation.Through the demonstration, the final conclusion of this paper:ESTI method which correcting the STI can effectively improve stability and accuracy to evaluate Chinese speech in the fluctuating noise condition.
