This thesis belongs to the "twelfth five-year" national science and technologyplan project, Project No. 2013BAL01B04.The climate 0f the lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin belongs to the Yellow River sub-humid zone, south temperate zone climate. Its terrain includes plains, hilly areas and river deltas area. Another its administrative divisions include45 counties in Henan and Shandong provinces. Through comprehensive study of traditional houses about the lower reaches of Yellow River Basin, there is help to comprehensive understand the living environment features about the linear culture for which attached to this natural landscape. I think this study has important research value.Based on the field reconnaissance of the traditional houses in the lower reaches of the Yellow River basin,I have visited about more than 50 villages and surveyed nearly a hundred residentials.Based onthe first-hand information and from the typology and human geography view, use the comparative analysis, graphicanalysis, statistical analysis, induction and generalization to summarize thetypes and characteristics of the traditional houses in the lower reaches of the Yellow River and explore What causes itsdiversity. In this way,to sum upthegeographical featuresof the traditional houses in lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin and enhance thevalue ofthetraditional houses to protect them better.According to the landform and administrative, the traditional houses were divided into A.B C.D four sections.A region(siheyuan or kiln house, narrow courtyard,three-room or five-room monomer, single slope or dual slope, exposed eaves, kakeyama or hard mountain, lifting beam wooden frame, localmaterials);B region(siheyuan, narrow courtyard, three-room or five-room monomer, dual slope or shallow- vaulted roof, flush eaves, hard mountain, lifting beam wooden frame,Artificial material); C region(siheyuan, sanheyuan,L courtyard, wide courtyard, one tofive-room, shallow- vaulted roof or dual slope, flush eaves, hard mountain, rows of wooden frame, da cha shou lifting beam wooden frame, localmaterials); D region(siheyuan,three- room or five-room, dual slope, flush eaves or exposed eaves, kakeyama or hard mountain, rows of wooden frame, da cha shou lifting beam wooden frame, localmaterials). There are brick, stone or carvings decorations, for which were influenced by economic factors. In the four regions, the similarity of AB is high, for which was influencedby the Yu culture, and the similarity of BC region is high, for which was influencedby Lu culture, So mostly, the traditional dwellings in the lower reaches of the Yellow River Basin can be regarded as two major categories. There are micro differences between A zone and B region, C district and D district, for which can be regarded as four sub types. There are obvious transitional regions in the adjacent regions, and there are much more differences in the different regions, but it will show some similarity in the local area. This fully demonstrated that the results of diversity are affected by the combined effects about physical geography and cultural factors.
