Research On The Technique Of Utilizing River Sludge As Road Fill

Because of the deterioration of water environment, more and more attention ispaid to water management, and the amount of sludge dredging is increasing year byyear. River sludge, which is difficult to use, not only pollutes the environment but alsotakes up lots of land resources. On the other hand, the traditional way of gettinghighway embankment materials causes damage to ecological environment. To use themodified river sludge for highway embankment filling, will not only solve theproblem of river sludge treatment eventually, but also alleviate the strain of highwayroadbed earth resources, etcBased on the comprehensive treatment project of Dagu Drainage River, thispaper proposes the reutilization of river sludge in roadbed filling to realize theirrecycling and harmless treatment and presents the first domestic classificationstandard of sludge utilization in accordance with relative state road and environmentstandards. The author carried out indoor tests and field construction tests of materialperformance after mixing sludge with lime, powder of building debris and lime slagrespectively. These tests showed that all performance indexes of the sludge mixingsmeet the requirement of road specification, the limits of relative state standards andtest requirements for heavy metals content and Extraction toxicity (ET).The sludge is solidified with the construction waste and lime in reasonableproportions determined in indoor testing and then used for practical projects of Gewanroad and Kong middle road. Through the paving on these test roads, this paper makesfurther research on the construction technology of river sludge filling roadbed, putsforward the standard of construction quality control, and provides a powerful systemtechnical support for the popularization and application of the new technology.
