The self-excited retarder is a kind of energy-saving auxiliary braking devicewhich integrates modern generation technology and eddy current braking technology.It could transform automotive kinetic energy into electronic energy, so the self-exitedretarder is free from additional energy consumption and improves vehicle comfort,safety and reliability.Water-cooled self-excited eddy current retarder with a structure of two salientpoles based on eddy current retarder, equipped with a power device, a new type ofretarder. It is a very significance and market value of the car auxiliary braking device,with a self-generating, brake torque, energy-saving, environmentally friendly. Com-pared to the current domestic research and development self-excited retarder, wa-ter-cooled self-excited eddy current retarder with a structure of two salient poles hasthe excellent heat dissipation, the small thermal recession, and high reliability. Thisarticle is mainly for the research of electronic control system on water-cooledself-excited eddy current retarder with a structure of two salient poles. The main con-tent of the dissertation are:The opening chapter introduces the role of auxiliary braking device for vehicle,the necessary of installation. The characteristics of the different types of retarder werecompared, and list the self-excited retarder advantages compared to other retarder.Introduces the different types of retarder and the characteristics of their electroniccontrol system, analyze the significance of self-excited water-cooled retarder and itscontrol system.In chapter2, the structure of water-cooled self-excited eddy current retarder witha structure of two salient pole, the working principle, the characteristics and the usedeffects are described in detail. A comprehensive evaluation method of performancecharacteristic of self-excited retarder was studied. Based on the theory of electromag-netic field, the computation formulae for current density and braking torque ofself-excited retarder are derived. The influence of the rotate speed, the excitation cur-rent and temperature on retarder braking torque have also studied. To prove the effec-tiveness of braking torque theory, experiments were carried out on the test-bed.In chapter3, according to the structural characteristics of the water-cooledself-excited eddy current retarder with a structure of two salient pole and control the-ory put forward the overall train of thought, and in accordance with the mature designmethod of automotive electronic system for modular design. Embedded processorMC9S12XS128is the core components; hardware circuit also includes the systempower supply module, input module, output module, CAN communication module, tointegrate the various modules make PCB and physical. In chapter4, to meet the demand of the development of the automobile electronicnetwork, developed based on J1939protocol control system of retarder. It can receivethe working state of the components in the process of vehicle and environment infor-mation, according to the actual requirements of adjusting retarder state. This chapterfirstly introduces the network topology, J1939protocol content, detailed elaboratedthe application layer and fault diagnosis of J1939protocol layer. Work according tothe retarder, analysis and extraction of the vehicle in the operation of the relevant pa-rameter data. Combined with the actual requirement design CAN node on retardercontrol system.In chapter5, Study experiment of the control system of water-cooled self-excitededdy current retarder with a structure of two salient pole. With reference to automo-bile electronic standards, we do automotive standardization experiments for the elec-tronic control unit of the water-cooled self-excited eddy current retarder with a struc-ture of two salient pole. Then studies the test methods of self-excited retarder, the testbench for retarder are designed. The test mainly constituted by the two parts of thecontrol the retarder brake torque divided level output and analyzed the factors oftorque attenuation. Finally build the CAN communication experiment platform fortest retarder communication including retarder work situation communication with carstate and retarder fault diagnosis related experiments. Through the experiment verifythe feasibility of water-cooled self-excited eddy current retarder with a structure oftwo salient pole control system.Finally, the dissertation conclusion and made suggestions for the developmentdirection of future.
